Dear Friends,

Wow – can you believe we have nearly got through four weeks of lock-down?

You might be running out of skincare products by now. If you have kids at home, you might also be running out of ideas to keep them entertained, too!

If that’s the case, we have an idea to help with both.

The team at Janesce Skincare have created some DIY facial treatment recipes using all-natural ingredients you’ll have in the pantry.

Scroll down for recipes for an Almond Exfoliating Rub to gently slough off dead skin cells and a Softening Oats Face Mask to soften and soothe your skin.

We recommend trying them both out.

Your skin is due for some TLC by now and we bet your kids will love joining you for a bit of pampering fun!

Almond Exfoliating Rub

You will need:

1/4 cup almond meal or ground almonds
1 tablespoon of raw organic honey
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Mixing bowl

How to make:

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl until well combined. Begin your skin treatment with the Janesce Skin Soaking Ritual. While your skin is still damp spread 1 tablespoon of scrub over your skin with your damp hands. Very gently rub the scrub in upward circles all over your face and neck, avoiding the eye area. If you have very sensitive skin, apply a little less and press it into your skin without rubbing. This might be messy if you haven’t done it before so we would recommend doing it over your sink. Let it sit for a further 5 minutes. If it dries out, dampen your hands again and work it some more to keep it moist. Rinse with warm water, then complete your Janesce Skin Soaking Ritual again beginning with your soaking step.

Note: This will keep in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months. We recommend doing this twice a week.

Kirsty, Ella & Sophia Report Back!

Kirsty from Jamele put her hand up to try the exfoliant recipe for us.  She had two cute little helpers.

Q) Kirsty, what would you normally use as a Janesce exfoliant at home?

I normally use the Janesce Enzyme Peel once a week. It smells amazing and it’s very gentle on the skin.  It’s great at stimulating circulation and increasing blood flow. I like how it softens and smooths my skin.

Q)  What was your experience of making and using this mask?

I really enjoyed making my own exfoliant. It was so easy to throw together with ingredients I already had in the kitchen. It smelt good too – I wanted to eat it! It felt soft and textured like the Gentle Clearing Wash, a Janesce exfoliant that also uses almonds.

Q)  How did your skin feel afterwards?

My skin felt very soft and hydrated afterwards – I was impressed! I’ve popped the leftovers in the fridge and will use that again in one week’s time.

Q)  What was it like including your girls in the process?

Ella and Sophia loved getting creative in the kitchen. Like most little girls, they love anything to do with pampering! I think it’s a great little bonding activity for mums to do with the kids. Plus, there is the added bonus of a bit of self-care at the same time!  I think it would be fun to make it as part of a spa day and include a manicure and pedicure too.

Q)  What advice do you have for your Jamele clients who use Janesce Skincare during lock-down?

Keep up the good work with your skin care routine.  Don’t forget to soak, soak, soak! Your skin will love you for it – it will keep your skin hydrated over the change of season and help your products go further.

Softening Oats Facial Mask

Don’t have a Janesce Facial Mask in lock-down? Lots of commonly available face masks are drying to the skin.  Here is one you can make yourself with ingredients that soothe and nourish your skin. You may already have all of the ingredients. If not you can easily get them from the supermarket!

You will need:

1/3 cup oats
2 tablespoons plain yoghurt
1 tablespoon honey
Mixing bowl

How to make

Combine oats, yoghurt and honey in a mixing bowl. Stir until well combined. Begin with the cleansing and soaking steps of the  Janesce Skin Soaking Ritual. While your skin is still damp apply a thick layer of mask to your face, using your fingers (or a brush). Leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, and proceed with the rest of your skincare routine beginning with the skin soaking step.

Note: This will keep in the fridge for up to a week. We recommend doing this twice a week.
